Our sector has a rich and diverse history stretching back more than fifty years. How can we best support artists and organisations to gather, organise and share this valuable knowledge and make it available for current and future generations? How can we involve funding agencies and other partners in building the archive? How can we connect our sector archive to the National Archives?

The Platform can provide tools to help us gather, organise and share the histories of our work. It can provide a repository for digitised archival content and provide means for communities to contribute to and access the content. By adopting data and file sharing standards The Platform can also provide a means to connect and share content between databases (interoperability).

Postcards From Forever

Screen Shot 2014-05-05 at 11.18.02 amFootscray Community Arts Centre (FCAC) is celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2014 and are working with us in the testing and development of The Platform’s History and Archiving features. Through their Birthday Suite project FCAC is working to digitise past and present archives, stories, characters and commentary, in and around FCAC and then upload and tag it in the Platform. The Postcards from Forever Project provides a means for community (artists and participants) to contribute their own stories and reflections adding to the archive. The stories are featured on the FCAC website via the platform embed services.
